Experienced fundraiser, educator, theater producer, and disability community professional Chad Costello has joined Project Independence
Experienced fundraiser, educator, theater producer, and disability community professional Chad Costello has joined Costa Mesa-based Project Independence (PI) as director of fund development.
PI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides comprehensive services in Orange County to over 750 people with developmental disabilities in their homes, at work, and in the community.
Costello’s career highlights include serving as the manager of the independent living and supported living programs with Project TEAM, a Riverside Unified School District vocational program for young adults with disabilities. A key achievement was the coordination of a sports clinic that partnered with professional sports teams.
While at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Riverside, he was responsible for multiple student theater productions along with fundraising events. In 2010, he founded the Peanut Gallery, an anti-bullying program incorporating improv and acting that quickly attracted over 400 students.
He is a graduate of California Baptist University, earning a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s degree in education.
“We are delighted to bring Chad aboard and know his diverse experience and well-honed skills will be valuable assets for our organization,” said Project Independence CEO Robert Watson. “His commitment to promoting civil rights for people with developmental disabilities aligns with our goal to provide services that expand their freedom and choice.”
For more than four decades, Project Independence has been a lifeline to adults with developmental disabilities. Eighty-seven cents of every dollar raised by the organization goes directly to support vital programs, including independent living, positive behavior support, day programs, and supported employment.
Project Independence is looking for prospective employees who want a job where they can make a difference working in a friendly and stable work environment.
