Steven has been successfully employed at a local Food for Less for 21 years, a position he obtained with assistance of Project Independence. In his role in the deli, Stephen prepares and cooks chicken and potato wedges, bakes breads and cookies, decorates cakes and provides general customer service.
When asked about his many years of service, Steven shared that he enjoys working in the bakery and appreciates all of his coworkers because they are always very friendly to him.
His positive relationships with his colleagues and employment of his duties have contributed to his long term commitment and success at Food for Less.
Steven’s job coach has assisted him with many things over the years. When he first started his coach provided hands on support every shift until Steven learned his basic routine and how to complete his job tasks. As Steven became more independent at work, his coach assisted him with improving various areas of his performance such as perfecting his cake decorating or improving his frequency of greeting customers.
About his experience with Project Independence, Steven says:
“Project Independence is a good company with good staff members. My job coaches have helped me learn to do a good job at work and keep my job for a long time.”
Consuelo has been Steven’s supervisor at Food 4 Less for many years. Consuelo says:
“Steven does a great job. He is reliable and always on time. Steven is a great employee.”
