MEKA GREEN NAMED DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES AT PROJECT INDEPENDENCE

Costa Mesa, California, October 15, 2018 – Meka Green of Paramount has been named director of Human Resources for nonprofit Project Independence of Costa Mesa.

She has been at Project Independence since 2007 and has many years of experience providing support to staff, clients and their families.  The mother of eight-year-old daughter, Green is a member of PTA (Parent Teacher Association) at Abraham Lincoln Elementary, is a School Site Council member, and is a PIQE (Parent Institute of Quality Education) graduate. She also serves on the leadership Team for The GEMS and GENTS Youth Program, and is a Zumba Instructor.

She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science from Concordia University.

Her journey at Project Independence started as a direct support staffer to clients as an entitlement specialist, assisting with money management, benefits and entitlements.  In that role, she says she discovered her love for making a difference in the lives of her clients and learned the importance of communication with an individual’s support circle.

She later transitioned into the area manager for the Central Region, where she developed an appreciation for assisting adults with disabilities and a true love for guiding and supporting staff to serve those who need us most.

In her new role, she is committed to recruiting, training, supporting and retaining all the staff and management at Project Independence.

“We are delighted to promote Meka to director of Human Resources and know she will make a significant contribution to our organization as we seek additional staff members to meet the growing needs of the people we serve,” said Project Independence CEO and President Debra Marsteller.
