Project Independence joined nine other nonprofits on May 7 to cohost the annual Empowering Possibilities campaign, a Day of Giving to support neighbors with disabilities. Empowering Possibilities is a part of the i heart oc collaborative giving day initiative of the Orange County Community Foundation.
The 24-hour online effort raised a total of $189,650 with 285 donors participating. A total of $13,650 was raised by Project Independence.
“We were pleased to team again this year with our fellow nonprofits serving those who need us most,” said Project Independence CEO Robert Watson. “We are honored to serve adults with developmental disabilities. As a result of the Empowering Possibilities fundraising campaign, our entire community grows stronger. We thank everyone for your compassionate support. We could not do what we do without you!”
The other eight participating organizations included Beyond Blindness, Down Syndrome Association of OC, Life College, Reimagine, Sandy Feet Initiative, Surf and Turf Therapy, Tomorrow’s Leadership Collaborative Charter School (TLC), and Vocational Visions.
Eighty-seven cents of every dollar raised by PI goes directly to support vital programs for people with developmental disabilities.
