The nonprofit Project Independence is hosting its 13th annual Walk for Independence on Saturday, Oct. 1.

The in-person event at TeWinkle Park in Costa Mesa raises money for people with developmental disabilities and is a launch for National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Money raised will help fund the organization’s Independent Living, Supported Employment and Day Program services that support 600 adults in the county. The event typically raises some $40,000.
