Meet Gabe – a friendly face with a big smile and a love for amusement parks and the great outdoors. Gabe recently started a new job working as a Home Depot Lot Associate.
Through Project Independence’s Supported Employment Program, Gabe was matched with this opportunity, and it’s already proving to be a great fit. He works part time and loves that his role keeps him outside and active — something that perfectly matches his upbeat personality and love of the outdoors.
Getting to the job wasn’t easy at first. Public transportation options didn’t reach the area, so our team coordinated a specialized taxi service to make sure Gabe could get to work reliably and on time. It’s that kind of out-of-the-box thinking that helps break down barriers and open up real possibilities.
This is also Gabe’s first time working with a Job Coach, and he’s excited to have a little extra support as he learns the ropes and builds confidence in his new role.
When he’s not at work, Gabe enjoys spending time with his family and heading out to his favorite amusement parks. Now, thanks to his new job and the support from Project Independence, he’s building even more independence, and having fun along the way.
